Scholarship Essay Entry – Angelina H.

When asked what I am going to do with my life I simply answer "I'm going to make a difference" with a smile on my face. I am full of ambition and no challenge is too big to overcome; if anything a challenge makes me want to work even harder to prove I can make it. I am going to college to do a Small Business Certificate by distance learning. Most would look down on this way of learning but to me it proves that I am dedicated enough to work full time and put myself through college. I am the only one who controls where I will be in ten years, therefore I will be the one who supports me and will push to be a better person.

Through the 18 years of my life I have lived many life styles and have had so many life experiences that have made me open my eyes to the way of life very different people. No matter the religion or culture of someone, food and drink brings them together. And that is why I am going to open an internet café that will bring the young and old in who love home-style food like Grandma would make. To me friends and family are priceless and I have seen how happy people are when they come together to have a meal or simply a cup of coffee. I want to create an environment that is cozy and inviting; that no matter the age people will come in and stay for hours filling the place with laughter and friendly conversation. The internet part is more so aimed for the younger people to catch up on school work or chatting with some friends out of town.

Happiness has no price tag; and it is the best way to change the world. When you are so passionate about something there is no way you can go wrong; for me that is food and seeing a smile on someone's face. To know that I can somehow be the reason for that smile makes me feel like I have changed someone's life for the better. That alone is an achievement itself.
