HIGHLIGHTS

Myles Peterman put in an outstanding year as the 2009 Young & Free Alberta Spokester

The search

Myles Peterman of Edmonton, Alberta submitted his application September 25, 2009. From the start, Myles' creative and captivating entry video made it clear that he could represent the 25 and under crowd of Alberta perfectly!

After making it to the top three with Edmonton's James Morrison and Calgary's Jenna Mae Togado, Myles pulled out all the stops in his effort to become the next Young & Free Alberta Spokester. With two additional videos, two podcasts, and several blog posts.

When all was said and done, Myles emerged as the clear winner of the Spokester search with the majority of the votes. The Young & Free Alberta team, along with Servus Credit Union's Kim Crockett, arranged a surprise for Myles and shocked him at a local restaurant! Despite being bowled over with excitement, Myles happily accepted the job and began working ASAP!

Myles' year

Myles kicked off his year with a spectacular video highlighting the E-Updates prize for December, a James Bond DVD set! His parody of the opening Bond theme set the mark for a year filled with awesome videos.

Myles' role as the Y&F Spokesperson consisted of writing five blog posts including one video blog every single week! Over the course of the next year, Myles wrote more than 200 blog posts brimming with wit, creativity and thought-provoking content.

During his year, Myles established several Young & Free Alberta blog staples such as the Weekend Prepper, an end of the workweek entry to awesomeness, The X-Spot, a highlight of savings tips and tricks, and The Big Question, a feature that that posed different questions about life and saving money.

Myles' fabulous videos

Myles appeared in 40 videos during his time at Young & Free Alberta. These videos showcased his awesome filmaking skills and his penchant for making music. His song "Staycation" was even featured on an Edmonton news show!

His parody of a certain song from Saturday Night Live garnered hundreds of views on youtube!

Myles also gave us a week of his alter ego (and bank spy) Michael.

Events

Myles was also presented with opportunities to get out and about in the local community and represented Young & Free at a variety of awesome events!

A fun one was the "Looney Drop," where Myles traveled to a hockey game!

The Underwear Affair

Relay For Life

and The Blue Herron Street Festival

Credit union goodness

Myles' videos weren't all just about music and awesome events. He produced several money saving videos that were informative and entertaining!

One awesome video was Assets vs. Liabilities

Stocks, Bonds, GIC's and Mutual Funds

Dorm Cooking: Food Prep

Young & Free Alberta also hosted "Cash In With Your Camcorder," a fantastic competition where members of the Young Free Alberta community sent in videos for a chance to win $2,000!

Myles created a memorable year of great videos, blog posts and appearances.

Good luck Myles, and thanks for a fantastic year filled with great memories!
