Introducing our final applicant, James Morrison!

James Morrison is a 20 year old from Edmonton who in fact did get his application in on time! Just like Lindsay, James had an error on the application form on our website and we didn't receive all of the details.

Here is James' blog post:

"I love living in Edmonton. I know how corny that sounds, but there’s always something going on here. True, you do have to look a little in order to find out about all the night shows, but it angers me to hear people saying that there’s nothing to do.  There is almost always a concert headlining some of Canada’s best talent in our city. Final Fantasy, a new Canadian artist who is getting a lot of attention, played to an almost empty crowd and it’s not because of a lack of talent, as it was an amazing show, but because no one knew he was performing. We have one of the best scenes in the world for independent music here in Edmonton, but no one goes to any of the shows because we never know when they’re happening. And that’s why it’s so important to draw attention to anything any everything that we’re passionate about. If we’re willing to get worked up over something, others will be too; they just have to know what their options are."

"Inexpensive banking is something that our age group should be thrilled about; it’s giving us the chance to save our money. There should be billboards with signal flares across the province. But without an enthusiastic spokesperson, what point is there to having this program? Someone has to instill passion into others about saving their money. Just shouting out “Young and Free” isn’t enough; the spokesperson has to really believe that this program is meant to help our generation out. They need to make others believe in “Young and Free” and that’s what I’m willing to do. I want to lend my voice to this campaign to tell others my age about their options, and show them that they can save their money. I just have to make myself heard."

This is James' current situation:

"I’m in my third year of an education degree at the University of Alberta with a major in English and a minor in biology. I know, they don’t match up, but I love both subjects. I’ll be out with a degree soon and I really can’t wait to start travelling with it. I can go to any country and know that I’ll have a job teaching if I need to. As for hobbies, I create stuff. From t-shirts to statues, I just like to keep busy.  And, as you can probably tell from my blog, I’m really into the local music scene. There’s so much happening in Edmonton everyday and I just want to be part of it."

That's 11 total applicants. This exceeds our hopes of 10. Check back on Monday, November 19 when we reveal the top applicants and open the voting phase!
