Video message and From Couch to 5K

Hey look! A video message from Larissa!

We now return to our regularly scheduled blog post.

A couple weeks ago, there was a noticeable response in the comments section to a blog post about an extremely specialized workout designed to get you doing 100 pushups in a row (by the way... it's going well, considering I could only muster 4 pushups for the test at the beginning of the routine. Wow it's not fun admitting that).

Some of you shared your own clever ways to incorporate fitness into your daily routines, whereas others pointed out that pushups aren't the best fitness marker.

What's interesting is that the structure of the 100 pushups workout looks as though it can be applied to many different physical activities – it's just a matter of increasing the workload gradually by exercising in intervals.

If you couldn't care less about pushups, but are looking for a way to start running, check out the Couch-to-5K running plan. It requires only three weekly sessions. You basically set out alternating between jogging and walking, and as the weeks go on you decrease the walking time and increase the jogging time. The Couch-to-5K plan also explains how you can track your results by either distance or time.

Fitness plans that work with intervals seem to be the way to go – they ensure that you don't burn yourself out the first day and get turned off the exercise for ever (hmm, that sounds familiar...). So check it out for yourselves!

Have a great day,

Larissa
