"Hi!! I'm Jenna Mae! I just came back from the best summer trip of my life, Snowboarding in Bariloche, Argentina! My extended stay there left me unemployed and ready to make a change. I'm currently attending the Calgary Spanish Academy, maintaining a toque company (SIKKNITS) my best friend and I started last season, interning for MGT All girl Snowboard camp and working odd jobs here and there! As a snow chaser and self expressionist, I try to educate myself any way possible. Whether it be looking something up and reading for hours on the internet or taking a random class. Weird, crazy, down to earth, out of the box are some words to describe me. Being an outgoing internet junkie, I knew this opportunity had my name written ALL OVER it! So be my friend! Cause I for sure want to be yours! :)"

"Burton Snowboards has just come out with their new park board, called LOVE, for 2008/2009 season, and there’s a buzz of controversy surrounding these boards. Good buzz? Or Bad buzz? You make the decision!

Quirky and witty? Or just plain offensive?

Burton has teamed up with Playboy to come out with a series of boards with booty baring bunny babes as graphics. The collaborating companies’ motives to me are questionable! Money? Art? Expression? Tasteful or trashy?

In every day instances we always question if art has boundaries, many would argue that expression is what it is and there are no boundaries. Then why do masses still get offended by art? Is there an invisible line we choose to ignore exists when talking in general, But when crossed in actuality we take back all we’ve said? Or is this even considered as art?

Is this a marketing ploy? Musicians, writers and artists of any sort have used this method once before. To offend people! By doing this we gain interest, publicity, and in the end, usually… money. Marilyn Manson, Christina Aguilera, etc. have offended people and inevitably have gained profit from it. For every hater there are 10 more fans it seems. Why are we so afraid to bare what we all know exists?

Ultimately, I don’t have much of an opinion for this issue, it seems as though I’m stuck in the middle. I believe in freedom of expression, whether it is offensive or not just as long as there is truth behind it. I have not found any reviews on how well this board performs yet. I guess the bottom line for me is, as long as we’re talking performance. It doesn’t matter what graphic is on your snowboard, laminate or stickers, as long as it takes you through the terrain it promises you. The way I see it, snowboarding is snowboarding and art is art.
